I know how it feels to not have your heart in your work, so employee engagement is something dear to me. When employees aren't engaged, the whole organization suffers. These recent articles and posts about employee engagement particularly resonated with me:

4 Reasons Why Your Organization's Meetings are Unproductive by plann3r- I had an employer who would call "mandatory" meetings at the last minute around 4:00 p.m. We wouldn't leave prior to 8:00 p.m. Needless to say, turnover among middle management was high.

How to Create an Employee Engagement Program in 5 Easy Steps by Twine- I especially liked the tips under #3. I love retreats, but actual retreats. I don't mean "work retreats" which are basically just long meetings off site.

Why Good Employees Leave (and What You Can Do About it) by Twine- Reasons 5 and 6 are big ones for me. I didn't realize how "unpleasant" certain work environments were until I worked in more pleasant ones. It's amazing what levels of toxicity I became used to.
